m a n u s c r y p t s: Granted…

  • Parna · 4 years ago
wishful thinking....also, aren't we all a selfish lot at the end of the day? would we want anything at all for the 'human beings at large' given such a 'wish'?
  • Deez · 4 years ago
    ....thank god we cant.
tt least one less job to do. and one more fella to blame.
  • Prerona · 4 years ago
parna disgree ... i think loads of people wud make wishes for mankind in general ... specially now. manu, i was thinking of this last night, watching Dev ... that there are so many poeple, in so many ways just like us, who's lives just finish, or otherwise fall apart, in seconds, casually, with no warning, need or even meaning - it happens everyday, all over the world ... nature / politics / war ... i dunno ... but till it hits us, we actually think / believe / assume that we r so untouchable ... isnt it?
  • phatichar · 4 years ago
Beautiful post! @parna: what he meant here was 'granting' wishes, i mean those of us who've gen'lly got nothing to crib about, what if we could 'grant' a wish? Reminded me of that song 'tum besahara ho to, kisi ka sahara bano'...

well, have too many thoughts to express, the comment box wouldn't be enuff! :)

    thought provoking post, manu.

hey...what u say is true..but sometimes it is tough to feel what u r saying and really be greatful for all that u have coz there are needs which are more robust and dominant than my gratitude for life.Sad but this is another facet of reality!i guess!

'....I would wish you a LARGE grant.' Sorry, another weak one I know. Aaj kal kuch aisa hee :). Thanks for visiting.

prero, i agree. but then we are talking about people like 'you' and 'me'. the point is would you donate the million dollars you win one fine day in a lottery? am not sure, but if am brutally honest, it would take me more than a couple of thoughts to donate even half of it. noble thoughts are one, but actually acting upon it for me might be a different ball game all together.

and exactly your point - we are common people or so we think, till the hurricane comes and hits us.

    But

"We have not started the fire

it is always burning since the earth is turning "

so will it qualify me for taking something for granted

parna; yes, unfortunately so.. were we always that way, and does it have to be so??

deez: yup, its a thankless job, agree
  • manuscrypts · 4 years ago
prerona: agree, it takes a personal hit to evoke a response...unfortunately

phatichar: absolutely, and thats also a question i ask myself...
  • manuscrypts · 4 years ago
kay: yes, like parna said, at the end of the day we are still a selfish lot..

jw: oh man a formal 'thx for visiting' 'n all :)
  • manuscrypts · 4 years ago
parna: its only after we satisfy all possible things that we look around.. and then we also justify it saying this was the way it was meant to be..

    nupur: i shudder..:)
  • manuscrypts · 4 years ago
scorpio: but have we tried fighting it?

    v: then?? :)

Verr true ! I was thinking on similiar lines yesterday- just saw a documentary on kashmir and one line just kept on resonating in my mind - someone saying " I wonder how it is to wake up without hearing gunfire everyday" . Amen to life as it is

cynic: and actually not having a blast!!

stone: would we actually do that is the debate...
  • Ash · 4 years ago
Manu, nice post. We do take a lot of things for granted... and when we do get what we want, we always want more. Human nature, I think.

And it is certainly humbling to see others in worse situations.

But I agree with Parna... I doubt many of us would put the good of many above our own good ...again, human nature.

If wishes were true... pigs would fly.. but it still does not stop us from wishing
  • manuscrypts · 4 years ago
prerona: hmmm, i guess some of us think and some of us do... i have learnt that when we feel that strong emotion, we should contribute then and there.. the moment we start rationalising, it becomes a lost cause...

    pallavi: for us, or others??
