Even so not all are good. Some are awful although I always feel bad for the extremely skinny, clearly quite old woman whose legs are thinner than my wrists (now you have seen me you know what that means!) who has very little talent and never has any money in her guitar case. She plays in Charing Cross.

The public in general is generous and even if busy, since we can hear the music for a few metres either side. people drop between 10p and £2 into the musician's hat or guitar/ violin case. This in my view is a real market experiment which is brutal but realistic.

Perhaps Joshua Bell should be grateful for the hype, sorry, marketing, machinery that enables him to collect $100 a seat? The public it seems has different ideas.

Re: Lost Universes

space flight is a good metaphor!

and as about the experiment, sometimes art is recognisable only in the right setting :p .. btw it also shows that most commoners cant distinguish between normal music and so called great music anyway. in summary, beauty lies in the eye/ear of the beholder/whatever :P .f i you think you are expected to appreciate it, you would!

Re: Lost Universes

That must have been tough for Joshua Bell. Perhaps the concert crowd doesn't use the subway? I hope I would be able to tell the difference between good and bad music regardless of the venue... would like to think that I haven't lost my curiosity yet.

Re: Lost Universes

Decluttering. Iffy, sometimes.

But how much will you carry and how far?

Re: Lost Universes

Interesting thoughts!

Well, I have read somewhere that a human being's character changes psychologically, every 7 years. That came as a surprise to me when I first heard it. But when I reminisce now, the revelation awes me. :)

Well, every individual, talented or untalented, craves attention or so Maslow puts in his hierarchy of needs. If he person says he doesn't crave recognitions, it means it has worked out negatively for him. When you dont get what you want, a positive feeling becomes a negative one. They are indifferent to recognition, but psychologically, crave it! That's the way things work. So, I guess this artist would have been a bit unhappy, about the insipid response! ;)

Re: Lost Universes

Reading @manuscrypts 's latest blog post: Lost Universes! http://www.manuscrypts.com/...

Re: Lost Universes

and on the blog today Lost Universes http://www.manuscrypts.com/...
