See, it is this way, we have to understand that certain places follow certain rules. One is NOT supposed to wear denim for a formal black tie sit down dinner.Don't temples in south India ( Padmanabha Swamy Temple, Tvm, Guruvayoor, for instance) insist on a proper dress code ?

Re: The English have gone, but….

I pity such people..now even more coz' of -ve publicity they've got from this blog :-)

Re: The English have gone, but….

deez: not a bad habit at all. one of these days, i see myself changing the line, and putting on yours :).. as they say, sometimes the inspired is better than the inspiration...

parna: i merely said i would wait for one hour if i had to, and sat, all wet, on their plush leather sofa :)

Re: The English have gone, but….

totally sucky Manu. should have hollered murder. really! we did that once in a 5 star hotel which refused to serve us coffee just cause we did not ask for some food. heck! we were not even asking for booze, which i understand from people perspective. we created a ruckus and spoke with the manager. made them serve us coffee. complimentary. wasn't all that comfortable post the ruckus. but we got heard :)

Re: The English have gone, but….

i realize its becoming a habit, but is always inspired by urs....

Re: The English have gone, but….

blokes: that is a very grandma trait!! :)

poornima: yexactly, wonder why we carry the baggage!!

Re: The English have gone, but….

gabby: lol, now that i'd love to do!! :)

satchit: there are a few nice guys out there, but as an industry i guess its snobbish..

Re: The English have gone, but….

arunima: hey, enough clues to let u guess the place :)

sqrl/nt: the perfect balance of snobbishness and greed, thats the idea!!

Re: The English have gone, but….

The English have gone but they've left behind a snobbishness and pretentious bunch of values huh?

Re: The English have gone, but….

power to my gramma! I went to this fancy looking restaurant, where I was to meet a friend. Got totally drenched on the way. As my friend had not yet arrived, I was planning to wait outside. But the people at the restaurant asked me if I wanted to wait inside. :-). But to add to what you were saying, many of the newly opened places have signs like 'Right to Admission Reserved' which feels very pre-1947 like. Its quite unfortunate. btw, the restaurant above had that sign too.

Re: The English have gone, but….

Take all your friends, all wet and drippy and barge in.
